Susan Heger

STOUGHTON - Susan Heger, age 74, of Stoughton, Wis., passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025. Born on July 8, 1950, in Beloit, Wis., to Fred and Mildred (Warren) Bergmann. Sue's life was defined by her deep compassion toward family, friends, and the community, marked by a lifetime devoted to caring for others.

In 1974, Sue married her beloved husband, Mike Heger. Together, the couple enjoyed 51 beautiful years filled with mutual love, support, and numerous adventures. With Mike by her side, Sue explored nearly every national park in America, embracing her passion for the outdoors through countless hikes and camping trips. Sue also cherished travels abroad, experiencing diverse cultures in Central America, Peru, Europe, New Zealand and Africa.

She loved working to help others, worked as a nurse for over 35 years, and volunteered at the Stoughton Food Pantry and Habitat for Humanity. Sue found true happiness in helping others. Sue loved to quilt, producing many beautiful wall hangings and blankets. She enjoyed reading, solving word games and cheering on the Badgers. She was well loved.

Susan is survived by her husband, Mike; daughter, Julie (Cory) Chancellor; son, Joe (Andrea) Heger; four grandchildren, Connor, Henry, Will and Sam; brother, Fred (Jeannie) Bergmann; and sisters, Nancy Littell and Barbara Bergmann. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ruth Ledin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Burial will follow at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, and also at church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stoughton Food Pantry or Doctors Without Borders.
