Obituary

MADISON - Kaylene Reilly Christnovich, a beloved soul whose light shone brightly in the lives of many, passed away surrounded by her family on June 25, 2025, at the age of 42, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on January 20, 1983, and raised near Coggon, Iowa, Kaylene’s journey was one of warmth, laughter, and an unshakable spirit.

Kaylene spent decades serving the Wisconsin School of Business, where her determination and work ethic left an indelible mark. Her colleagues and alumni alike admired her commitment and appreciated her generosity of spirit. Kaylene was a true friend and sibling, always ready to lend an ear or a helping hand. Her friendships were many and deep, a reflection of her considerate and caring nature.

Kaylene cherished her family above all. Her marriage to Cory Christnovich on September 8, 2012, was a testament to enduring love, and together they raised two wonderful children, Peter and Claire, who were the light of her life.

In the community, Kaylene's presence was a constant source of support and inspiration. Whether cheering at kids' sports events, participating in Relay for Life, or contributing her time to the volunteer efforts in the community, she demonstrated a heart full of love and a spirit eager to give. Kaylene also enjoyed spending time playing ultimate Frisbee, attending the Fall 50, and reading books. Her genuine care for others defined her as a loving mother, a trustworthy teammate, and a considerate friend.

Kaylene leaves behind her devoted husband, Cory; and her cherished children, Peter and Claire. She is also survived by her mother, Mona Reilly; her siblings, Mark (Carrie) Reilly, Robert Reilly, Mary (Brent) Hoefling and Kerry (Joel) Peyton; as well as in-laws, Robert and Judy Christnovich, Adam (Amy) Christnovich and Brian (Taylor) Christnovich; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Reilly; sister, Maureen Wolfe; and infant siblings, Kathy Ann and Michael Dennis; as well as her grandparents, and she is now lovingly reunited with them.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Kaylene’s life will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday. As we gather to remember her, we hold onto the memories of her laughter, kindness, and the joy she brought into our lives.

Kaylene's legacy of love and service will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, and her spirit will continue to guide us. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I met Kaylee (and Cory) playing ultimate frisbee. In fact, I think they met playing on our team. 2008 team photo below (I am wrestling my son, also named Peter, in the photo) It breaks my heart to hear that she has left so soon. She always had a smile and a word of encouragement.
