John Robert Edmunds
September 13, 1956 - June 19, 2025
Obituary
MONONA - John Robert Edmunds, age 68, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was born at Madison General Hospital in Madison, Wis., on September 13, 1956, to William “Bill” and Grace (Robenolt) Edmunds.
John was a graduate of Monona Grove High School in 1974 and went on to M.A.T.C., where he studied small engine repair. He started working at his father’s auto parts store, Edmunds Auto Supply, while in middle school. Eventually, John started J & H Auto Supply in 1986 and had remained in the business ever since. John was known around town for carrying hard-to-find auto parts, though was likely more well-known for how much he loved talking to everyone that came into “The Store” about the most random topics you could imagine. He truly loved owning J & H Auto Supply and helping people get the parts they needed.
John was an avid Badgers, Packers and Brewers fan. He was also known for his generosity and giving nature. He made sure to take care of everyone else before himself. John was a truly selfless man.
John is survived by his children, Sara Edmunds (Madison, Wis.) and Jeff (Lisa Fischer) Edmunds (Oshkosh, Wis.); grandchildren, Easton and Adrea (Oshkosh, Wis.); sisters, Jan Edmunds (Neenah, Wis.) and Jeanne Smith (Monona, Wis.); and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved dog, Baxter.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025.
