Obituary

MADISON - Peter A. Meland, age 93, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Nazareth Health & Rehab. He was born on November 16, 1931, in Sun Prairie, Wis., the son of Peter and Olive (Greve) Meland.


Peter was raised in Sun Prairie, where he went to school and worked on the family farm. He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1949. He married Marjorie Kluth on March 20, 1954, in Madison.


Peter worked as an operating engineer for Madison Crushing and Excavating and was a member of Operator's Local No. 139 for over 50 years. He enjoyed bowling, working in his yard, playing horseshoes and especially loved spending time with his wife, Marjorie, of 71 years.


Peter is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughters, DeAnne "Dee Dee" (William) Blount and Marie "Mimi" Meland; grandchildren, Sydney (Randy) Schaibley and Maxwell Blount; brother, Naymen Meland; niece, Debra (Dave) DeSmidt; nephew, Donald (Wally Layton) Meland; and great-nephew, James (Emily) Meland. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Marius and Norman Meland.
