Obituary
SUN PRAIRIE - Martin “Marty” Kepper, age 79, of Sun Prairie, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was born in Waldheim, Germany, on October 12, 1945, and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1955.
Marty earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from UW-Madison and his master’s degree in education from UW-Whitewater. He worked as a guidance counselor for the Western Wisconsin Technical College for the majority of his career and loved mentoring and teaching his healthcare students. He always gave a lending hand and an active ear to listen.
He loved German sausage and cheese, nature, gardening, laughing and traveling to see new sights, as well as spending time with family and friends. His witty sense of humor was infectious, and his character was one of integrity.
Marty is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Karen Kepper; his two adult children, Carl Kepper and Krista Tressa; four grandchildren, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, three nephews, five nieces, and many dear friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, brother, and a brother-in-law.
A funeral service will be held at Lake Edge Lutheran Church, 4032 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, with Pastor Justin Dittrich presiding, followed by a luncheon. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Kenosha.
A special thank you to all of the wonderful, caring neighbors at Olympic Village and to Lake Edge Lutheran Church members who visited him in the hospital, rehab and at home. Marty looked forward to all visits. To all of the family and friends who spent time praying, sending notes of encouragement and calling, thank you.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Door County Land Trust.
