Patrick M Nechkash

Obituary
OREGON - Patrick “Pat” Michael Nechkash, age 40, of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. He was born on June 14, 1984, in Madison, Wis., the son of Jerome “Jerry” and Teresa (Wall) Nechkash.
Growing up, Pat was drawn to sports and outdoor activities - learning to hunt and ski, and later playing soccer, wrestling, and football. Young Pat was also very protective of his older sister, Sheilah, as her childhood friends can attest. From an early age, Pat could be found next to his father, Jerry, at the family business, Percy’s Service.
Pat graduated from Oregon High School in 2002 and received a scholarship to MATC, where he earned his associate degree in Auto Mechanics leading to his career as an automotive technician. Pat worked side by side with his father, making Percy’s a special place that offered expert auto care and even better conversation. In the summers, Pat brought Percy’s spirit to the softball fields, leading the company team where the game itself was secondary to the time together with friends.
Pat’s boisterous personality and big heart always raised the energy in the room. A notorious prankster, he kept everyone around him on their toes. He was a huge fan of the Badgers, the Packers, and the Brewers - always quoting the latest news from the Wilde and Tausch show.
Pat loved his time with friends and family. He was the honorary Grand Marshal of the annual family party, the ‘Pig Bash.’ On Badger Saturdays in the fall, Pat worked at Lucky’s on Regent St., where he was a part-time bartender but a full-time conversationalist. No matter how big or how crowded the room, Pat’s booming voice and big laugh could be heard throughout.
The holidays - especially Christmas - were a special time for Pat. He took great pride in constructing his Christmas village each year. If you were lucky enough to see it, you know how truly magical it was.
On March 22, 2020, Patrick married the love of his life, Erin, at their home in Oregon. Together they enjoyed cheering on Kaleb and Karleigh in all their sports, taking family vacations, relaxing by the pool, and playing with their two dogs, Jedi and Indy.
Patrick is survived by his parents; his wife, Erin; his sister, Sheilah (Alan) Genin; Kaleb and Karleigh, whom he loved as his own; his nieces and nephew, Adriah, Makenah, and Cason; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Pat’s name to the Oregon Area Food Pantry (oregonareafoodpantry.com) or Oregon Athletic Booster Club, Attention: Matt Kingsley, 627 North Perry Parkway, Oregon, WI 53575. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
