Obituary

“We're all told at some point in time that we can no longer play the children's game. We just don't know when that's gonna be. Some of us are told at 18, some of us are told at 40, but we're all told.” This quote, delivered by a scout to a young Billy Beane, in the movie, “Moneyball,” speaks to the moment when each of us is confronted with the reality that certain dreams may not be achieved, and life plans may need to be modified.

On July 13, 2026, Adam Charles Lee passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones, after a brave battle with ALS.

Adam was born on March 5, 1981, to Larry and Barb Lee at Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital. He grew up in Jefferson, enjoying Little League, youth wrestling, and outdoor adventures. His father coached him in baseball, and many cherished memories with friends resulted. Other highlights included fishing trips to Canada and deer hunting in Boscobel. Adam’s love for sports continued into high school, where he participated in football and wrestling. Adam was passionate about baseball and, as a skilled catcher, celebrated two state appearances with the Jefferson High School baseball team.

Adam graduated from Jefferson High School in 1999. He attended a semester at UW-Whitewater before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served from December 1999 to November 2005 as a Nuclear Electrician aboard the aircraft carrier John C. Stennis in San Diego. During his Navy career, Adam was deployed on two different tours. The first being Operation Enduring Freedom, which was in response to the 9/11 attacks on our country. His Navy career included travel, personal growth, education, and long-lasting friendships. Afterward, Adam worked in commercial nuclear as an operator and ended his career as a manager of generation operations at MG&E in Madison, Wis.

In 1999, Adam met Tiffanie Wolfgang of Beaver Dam. They were lovingly married on June 25, 2005. They had two beautiful children, Hunter (14) and Harper (9). The early years of their marriage were comprised of raising their children and traveling for work. Over 20 years, the family lived in Francis Creek, Wis., Hastings, Minn., and finally Stoughton. Despite Adam’s illness, he generated numerous recordings for his children to cherish forever.

Adam was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marion and Charles Prust; paternal grandparents, Ann and Clarence Lee; and infant niece, Molly Pechan.

Adam is survived by his wife, Tiffanie; children, Hunter and Harper; parents, Larry and Barb Lee; sister, Tara (Tom) Pechan; parents-in-law, Kathy and Jeff Wolfgang; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Josh and Danielle; beloved nieces and nephews, Owen, Elle, Will, Autumn, and Avery; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Adam was beyond blessed with friends who were a part of his life. You could say he hit a home run with those he surrounded himself with.

Throughout Adam’s illness, his friends were ever present. Whether it was weekly visits, phone calls, or being there for tough conversations, their support never wavered. That alone is a tribute to the type of person Adam was, a person with a heart of quiet, unwavering gold.

Adam's life was not solely defined by the illness he experienced. The courage he exemplified throughout his battle with ALS was heroic. He appreciated the compassionate care he received. We extend our gratitude to those who assisted with his in-home care, as well as the VA and UW teams of specialists, Maxim Healthcare and Agrace Hospice.

A funeral service celebrating Adam’s life will be held at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH, 310 E. Washington St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. The courage of facing any battle in life is anchored in faith and perseverance, while being blanketed in love and service. Adam served our great country, provided for his family, and was a blessed soul who now watches from above. May the dignity of his life be revered by family and friends. May we all try hard every day to display the courage he did. Rest in peace Adam. To his family, Barb, Larry, Tara, Tom and Kids, our deepest condolences and love. JRP, Queen Bektoria, Tot and Dawg.
