Ruth A Forrester

MOUNT HOREB - Ruth Anna Forrester, age 74, of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Upland Hills Health Hospital. She was born on April 29, 1951, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Louis and Gladys (Reeg) Liakos.

Anna graduated from Edwin G. Foreman High School in Chicago, Ill., and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Ill. She also attended Bethany Theological Seminary when it was located in Oak Brook, Ill. She was a homemaker and raised her children with love and care.

Anna became a Master Gardener and created beautiful sanctuaries wherever she could get her hands in the dirt. With her children and grandchild, she could be counted on to share the joy of finding natural treasures like leaves, stones, sticks, and acorns. Full of curiosity and imagination, she was also an avid reader, writer, and artist, and she delved into studies on various subjects. She enjoyed drinking in the scenery during long drives through the countryside, consulting her backroad’s map or following wherever her heart led her. She loved talking over a good cup of tea with family and friends, improvising melodies on piano, and pointing out her favorite houses and gardens during long walks. Her gentle spirit and warm smile will be deeply missed.

Anna is survived by her daughters, Morgan Hood and Kate (Nick) McKinney; grandson, Aled McKinney; sisters, Betty (Randy) Getsla and Jeanne (Jim) Love. She is also survived by Donald Hood, Bruce Fahnestock; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held at a later date.
