STOUGHTON - Duane A. “JR” Vinje, age 62, of Stoughton, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1962, in Stoughton, the son of Duane Sperstad and Elizabeth (Fischer) Vinje.
JR graduated from Stoughton High School in 1982. He married Kathie Martinson in 1994 in Stoughton. He worked as a mechanic for Wolter Inc. for over 30 years.
He was a member of Tri-County Pullers, and he loved pulling tractors.
JR loved his grandchildren, and he was a fan of his fur grandchildren as well. He often attended local car shows, and working on his 1970 Nova was a passion of his.
JR is survived by his wife, Kathie; daughter, Brooke (Mark Brown) Vinje; sons, Josh Wrhel and Justin (Emmy Brown) Vinje; grandchildren, Shane Kraft, Hunter Wrhel and Hadley Wrhel; father, Duane Sperstad; and sister, Brenda (Mike) Shields. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth; and stepfather, Ted Vinje.
A Celebration of JR’s Life will be held at a later date.
