Obituary

MADISON - Doris Mae Miller, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on December 26, 1933, in Moscow, Wisconsin, the daughter of Norman and Clarice (Rickey) Sies.

Doris graduated from Mount Horeb High School. She was united in marriage to Robert Miller on August 26, 1950, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Mount Horeb.

Doris was a homemaker and raised her children with love and care. She loved each of her children and believed they were all special in their own way. After they were grown, she worked as a cook at Middleton Village for 17 years and loved it.

Doris was a faith-filled woman. She enjoyed the simple things in life: taking in the sights of beautiful flowers and trees (her favorite was the grand oak on Pheasant Branch Road), listening, feeding and watching the birds, and taking walks in the crisp fallen snow. She loved family gatherings and setting a good fancy table. She had a notable collection of tea pots, pretty coffee cups and saucers. Her favorite times were visiting with family and sharing a cup of coffee and a sweet treat. Her lasting wish was for her kids to stay connected and continue to make wonderful memories together.

Doris will be missed by her daughters, Debbie (Scott) Borenz, Laurie (Robert Nichols) Miller, and Katie (Sherrie Johnson) Miller; sons, Terry (Monica) Miller, Michael (Carol) Miller, James (Julie) Miller; 12 grandchildren, Chad (Alecia), Craig (Kate), Miranda (Jason), Alisa (Brendan), Megan, Mathew (Ann), Tarrah (Ben), Nicole (Paul), Jennifer, Jessie (Nicole), Jordan (Tiffany) and Kirk (Holly); 30 great-grandchildren, Grace, Madison, Robert, Clarice, Ava, Ellie, Liam, Tristan, Seraphina, Koda, Jonathan, Joselyn, Mathew Jr., Maya, Andrew, Alexis, Nicholas, Petra, Layla, Isabella, Kyrstin, Kyla, Summer, Kane, Peyton, Avery, Adrean, Kamden, Tenley and Peyton; and great-great-grandchild, Amari. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Clarice and Norman; brother, Roland Sies; and son, Gregory Miller.

Memorial Service will be held at ST. LUKE'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025, with Renee Kiel presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will take place at St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery.

Dear Miller Family, I am sorry to be writing late, after Doris' funeral. I hope the service and your day of remembrance was peaceful and soothing. Living down the street from the sheet metal shop, and our parents being friends, we saw your mom and dad and all the kids regularly. I recall Doris and my mom having coffee and frequent visits at our house on Terrace Ave. Your mom was always friendly, interested, smiling. Jimmy was assigned to walk me to kindergarten at Elm Lawn. (Or was it Mike?? I think Jimmy. Big families - both of ours - it's easy to misremember.) May your memories bring you comfort. Sincerely, Karen Acker (Vincent and Theresa family)
