Obituary
FITCHBURG - Daniel Mark “Danny” Wittkamper, age 70, of Fitchburg, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1954, in Americus, Ga., the son of William and Margaret (Gregory) Wittkamper. As an infant, Danny had polio, but he persevered, and it molded him into a strong and independent man.
Danny grew up on the Koinonia Farm, a Christian community for anyone to be a part of. He has shared many stories about this special time on the farm, shaping him to be the man we all love. Danny graduated from Plains High School in 1972. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Asbury on April 16, 1983. Danny worked as a draftsman for Herner-Geissler Woodwork for 40 years before retiring. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local No. 1027.
Danny was fond of building and fixing things around the house. He liked to go for drives and found enjoyment in keeping his vehicles in immaculate condition. He was an avid Bears fan. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and his role of being a grandpa.
Danny is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Katie (Mike) Giganti; stepdaughter, Heather Ashfield; stepson, Matthew (Cynthia) Price; grandchildren, James "Finn" Ashfield, Mia Prince and Izabella Giganti; brothers, Bill (Amy) Wittkamper and Greg (Anne) Wittkamper; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Sloane and Marie Asbury; and brother-in-law, Cliff Asbury. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret; and brother, David Wittkamper.
