MADISON - Nancy Ann Utzig, age 97, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025. She was born on September 30, 1927, in Janesville, to Stuart and Marguerite (Duthie) Paul.
Nancy married her high school sweetheart, Donald Utzig, on February 20, 1949, and they were married for over 50 years. They moved to Madison on October 30, 1960. Nancy worked at the Madison Metropolitan School District as an Administrative Assistant for over 15 years when she retired in 1994.
Nancy had many interests, but she truly loved playing bridge, reading, and knitting. She was always on the go visiting places with family and friends. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the Nile. Nancy’s keen intellect, kind heart, and quiet strength were gifts she shared freely with those around her.
She is survived by her children, Sara Utzig (Buck Wilson), Bill Utzig and John Utzig; her grandchildren, Gabriel Enders (Marilyn Castillo), Emily Bastien (Brad Bastien), Avery Wilson and Nina Wilson; great-grandchildren, Ezra Green and Beckham Bastien; along with her sister, Jane Bordner; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Utzig; her parents, Stuart and Marguerite Paul; and her brother, Jim Paul (Jean Paul).
A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025. A private graveside service for immediate family will take place after the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the River Food Pantry in Nancy’s honor.
Nancy will be remembered for the love she gave, the life she lived, and the legacy she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed.
