Robert E. Fry

OREGON - Robert Everett Fry, known to his family and friends as Bob, died on October 6, 2026, at the age of 78. He passed away surrounded by family and friends, people who cared about him.

Bob was born in Richland Center, Wis., on October 22, 1947, to Catharine Jeanne Dwyer and Everett Hall Fry. The oldest of nine children, Bob grew up near Reedsburg in a family that remained an important part of his life. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. All eight of his siblings survive him: Mary, Ruth Ann, James (Nancy), Betty (Elgie), Sharon (Tom), Ray (Kay), Ellen (John), and Terry (Kristin).

Bob lived in Oregon, Wis., and worked in Madison as a certified nursing assistant. It was through his work in healthcare that he met Barb Schwenn, who became his beloved friend and partner. Their relationship was an important and lasting part of Bob's life.

Bob was a curious person who never lost his desire to learn. He was an avid reader and loved discovering new ideas, new subjects, and new books. Barnes & Noble was a favorite destination, and he and Barb could often be found there happily browsing the shelves. Bob valued friendships he made at the Oregon Senior Center and the pleasure of being connected with others.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date at Gunderson Oregon Funeral Home. Details to follow.

Bob's life began in a family of nine children and ended with family and friends close by. He leaves behind Barb, eight siblings, nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends who will remember him with deep affection.
