Obituary
LODI - Richard “Dick” McIntyre, age 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born in his family home on the bluff on October 2, 1937, to the late Reginald and Marietta (Swanson) McIntyre. Dick was united in marriage to Eunice “Audrey” Quam on May 18, 1957; she preceded him in death on September 13, 2023, after 66 years of marriage.
Dick, a lifelong resident of Lodi attended the little schoolhouse on the top of Hwy 113. Always an early riser, he loved spending mornings having coffee at differed locations and solving all the world’s problems with his friends.
As a livestock dealer, he bought thousands of cattle over the years from the Amish and local farmers. He loved horses and harness racing. Dick had horses most of his life, racing at local county fairs as well as in Chicago. He also enjoyed playing poker and had the same group for almost 40 years.
Dick is survived by his only son, Neil (Kay) McIntyre and three grandkids which he greatly adored, Meg, Melvin, and Clayton McIntyre; brother, Bill (Kathy) McIntyre and brothers-in-law, Roman Hellenbrand and Paul Dorn. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four siblings, John McIntyre, Nancy Hellenbrand, Patsy Dorn, and Mary Lou (Eloi) Schmitt; in-laws, Marion (Francis) Koehl, Ardyce (Al) Adams, Vernon (Doris) Quam, Kay (Frank) Larsen, Virgil Quam and Judith Quam.
The McIntyre family would like to thank the Maplewood staff and Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care of Dick.
A Prayer Service will be held at ST. MAXIMILIAN KOLBE PASTORATE AT ST. PATRICK’S CHURCH, 521 Fair St., Lodi, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with Fr. Joseph Baker officiating. Burial will be in County Line Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
