MADISON - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Andrew Joseph French, age 35, of Madison, Wis. Born on May 10, 1990, in Burnsville, Minn., Andrew was the beloved son of Dana and Pamela (Brunkhorst) French. He left this world far too soon on May 19, 2025.
A graduate of Madison West High School’s class of 2008, Andrew went on to earn his associate degree from Madison College. He was a talented CNC machinist, known for his precision, creativity, and the pride he took in his work.
Andrew was a devoted father to his two sons, Alex and Reid, and a loyal companion to his beloved dog, Hershey. He lived with an open heart and an adventurous spirit-his greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved. Whether he was out on the golf course or a disc golf trail, boating on the lake, manning the grill, or cheering on his fantasy football team, Andrew brought energy, humor, and warmth wherever he went.
A self-taught mechanical genius, Andrew could fix almost anything-except our hearts. His love for music, especially within the EDM community, brought him a chosen family and lifelong friendships. Those shared moments at festivals and shows lit up his life in a way few things could.
Andrew will be remembered for his quick wit, bear hugs, generous nature, and fiercely loyal soul. He is survived by his sons, Alexzander and Reid; his parents, Pamela and Dana; his sisters, Emily and Laura; and his beloved nieces, Armaia and Aliyah. He also leaves behind extended family and a wide circle of friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday. Following the service, we invite you to join us for a Celebration of Life at THE BREAKWATER, 6308 Inland Way, Monona, from 3:15 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. to honor and remember the incredible person Andrew was.
Though Andrew’s time with us was far too short, the love he gave and the light he shared will remain with us, always.
