Jamie Joseph "Baby Joey" Her
December 23, 2024 - May 19, 2025
Obituary
MADISON - Baby Joey, age 4 months, of Madison passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother and father on Monday, May 19, 2025. He was born on December 23, 2024, in Madison, the son of Soulou Her and Mai Her. He is the third son, born to older brothers, Matthew (Matty, age 5) and Samuel (Sammy, age 3) Her. His brothers wanted to name him Joey and parents wanted to name him Jamie. However, his brothers won and he was given the nickname Baby Joey. He completed the family, and his name fit in perfectly: Matty, Sammy and Joey.
At 3 months, Joey was already well traveled. While he struggled with car rides to visit the grandparents, upon turning 3 months, he enjoyed going on a road trip to Florida. Being the youngest grandchild, he enjoyed watching everyone around him move and play at the beach.
Joey’s favorite pastime was being around his brothers. His favorite activity was watching his brothers play and make loud noises. Joey would jerk and move whenever his brothers were near. He enjoyed kisses and hugs from his brothers. And just like his brothers, he loved being outside. He was also very much adored by his goldendoodle, Hudson - our gentle giant that loved to be around him. We can tell he was going to love food as much as his older brothers. Every day at dinner, he would reach out for food from his dad’s plate.
Joey loved music and playing with all different kinds of balls. His favorite place to be was with his mother. He loved snuggling in bed with his mother. He slept, ate, and often went to sleep in his mother’s arms. He was perfect for his mother, and was calmed whenever she was near. He gave her a smile whenever he saw her and responded to her as she always called him “My Sweet.” He slept through the night at 3 months, and the most joyous sound was hearing him scream when he woke up in the morning.
He will be dearly missed by his parents, Soulou and Mai; grandma, Chai Her; grandparents, LaFong and Phoua Vang; several uncles, several aunts, cousins, and second cousins; and his older brothers, Matty and Sammy will miss him so much.
Joey was the light of his mama and dada’s lives. He brought so much light to their world. Joey had such unique physical features, his spikey, dark hair, his chubby body - there was no one else like him. Words cannot express how deeply they will cherish the few months they had with him.
