Obituary
LODI, Wis. - Janet Grace (McFarlane) Hughey, age 91, of Lodi, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Saturday, May 10, 2025. She was born on March 19, 1934, on the family farm in Keyeser, Wis., to John Robert “Bob” and Eva (Estabrook) McFarlane.
Janet graduated from DeForest High School in 1952. She married William “Bill” Hughey on December 12, 1953, in Sun Prairie, Wis. In their early years, they moved several times before settling in Leeds, Wis., where they raised their family.
In addition to raising her five children, Janet drove school buses for many years, baked wedding and birthday cakes and was very active in planning alumni events. Janet took pride in her flower gardens, enjoyed quilting and loved babies.
Janet is survived by her five children, Mark (Lori) Hughey, Teresa Hughey Groves, Jeff (Rana) Hughey, Jean (Joseph) Spataro, Lance (Deon) Hughey, and honorary American Field Service daughter, Susan (Grant) Cameron Smith of New Zealand; ten grandchildren, Rebecca Groves (Adesegn Garry), Emily Groves, Alyssa Hughey, Luke (Beth) Hughey, Mathias (Elsa Kraus) Hughey, Andrew (Liz) Groves, Benjamin (Claren McLaughlin) Hughey, Abigail (John) Klemme, Christopher Hughey and Ella Hughey; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill; her parents; her seven siblings; and her grandson, John Mark.

A funeral service will be held at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF LODI, 258 Lodi St., Lodi, at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON LODI FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
