MADISON - Keith Alan Kinney, age 63, passed away on May 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after a short and unexpected battle with metastatic cancer. Born on May 18, 1961, in Madison, Wis., Keith lived life on his own terms, guided by a strong personal code and a deep pride in a job well done.
A lifelong enthusiast of classic cars, Keith took great joy in maintaining and restoring his collection of BMW and Saab automobiles. He also had a passion for classic rock, woodworking, and fabrication-skills he applied to building remote control planes, customizing gas-powered bicycles, and countless other hands-on projects. In retirement, he discovered a love for cultivating and propagating tropical plants, and he was surrounded by his cherished greenery during his final days.
Keith always had a project in motion and found joy not only in his own work but in lending his skills to help family and friends with theirs. He took immense pride in his sons and grandsons, and his love and admiration for them knew no bounds.
He is survived by his mother, Donna; sons, Alan and Sean; grandsons, Dominick and Riley; ex-wife and continued friend, Christine; sisters, Debbie and Diane; and brother, Kevin. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Bruce Kinney, and close friend, Michael Crawford. His legacy of curiosity, creativity, and quiet strength will be carried forward with love and gratitude by all who knew him.
