PERRY, Iowa - Matthew Christian Stack was born on January 30, 1980, to William and Susan Stack. While he was the youngest of three boys, his sister, Kathryn, completed the family as the youngest child. Matt is survived by his mother, Susan (Nordhaus) Stack; brothers, Billy (Amy) Stack and Patrick (Mandy) Stack; and sister, Kathryn Stack. Matt was an uncle to several beautiful nieces and nephews including Autumn, Aidan and Kiera Stack; Owen, Charlotte and Cora Niemann, and Josephine Ezarski.
Matt was a faithful husband to Catherine Stack and a courageous father to their daughter, Audrey Stack. As Matt said, “Audrey has my heart.” Matt was also a beloved friend to so many people. He was an esteemed colleague and an incredible human being. Matt was thoughtful, intelligent, generous, and very witty. He loved to hunt and looked forward to Scarf Camp every year. He was an avid golfer, frequenting Evansville with the guys as his favorite pastime.
Matt passed away on May 7, 2025, at 5:37 p.m. He peacefully took his final breaths surrounded by people who love him deeply. Matt will be missed every single day. We are all blessed for having known him. We love you so much Matt.
As many of you may recall, Matt loved a good movie quote. Matt is in heaven with a smile on his face and glint in his eye shouting “Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it’s bobsled time!”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Family and friends who wish to view the Mass via LIVESTREAM may visit Matthew’s obituary page at www.gundersonfh.com at the time of the Mass and click on Watch Now in the Webcast section. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St. Oregon, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the start of the Mass on Saturday.
