Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE - Harry Treu, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, in Cottage Grove. He was born on January 16, 1947, in Itzehoe, Germany, the son of Heinz and Ruth (Martens) Treu.


Harry graduated from Nicolet High School in Milwaukee, Wis. and received his B.A. in history from the UW-Madison in 1970. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an officer. Harry was united in marriage to Lisa (Mueller) on July 1, 1995, in Cable, Wis. He was a business owner and sales manager and in retirement, served as a school bus driver for 10 years.


Harry enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, golfing, playing handball, swimming, diving and studying history. He especially loved having a glass of wine every night with his lovely, “Liser.”


Harry was also known to many who loved him by his call sign “Dirty Harry” or his wife’s pet name, “Hairball.”


Harry will be missed by his wife, Lisa; twin daughters, Karinthia “Kari” Treu and Katrina “Kati” Treu; brothers, Jim and Norm Treu; and kitties, Felix and Ringo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Heinz and Ruth.


Memorials may be gifted in Harry’s name to Tunnel to Towers.

I knew Harry from working on the heating on his multiple unit off Spaight St. many years ago. Interesting good guy. Not alot of those left. RIP Harry.
