Obituary

WESTPORT / SUN PRAIRIE - Sharon Lee Anderson, age 83, of Waunakee, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Talamore Senior Living. She was born on May 30, 1941, in Madison and was raised by her loving parents, Marvin and Helen (Schafer) Pirkl.  Sharon’s life was defined by service, community, and a boundless love for family.

A 1959 graduate of Madison East High School, Sharon married Robert Anderson on February 2, 1963, and the couple created a fulfilling life together, including building their own house and the birth of their son. She had a respected 21-year career as the Town Clerk for the Town of Westport, a role which she held with integrity and dedication until her retirement in April 1999.

A devoted community member, Sharon volunteered her time and talents as an active member of Lakeview Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. In honor of her mother, she participated in the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute’s, WRAP research study for more than two decades and frequented many Alzheimer’s research walks. Similarly, in support of her granddaughter, she took part in the annual JDRF research walk for many years.

Her passion for the arts led her to share the joy of live theater with her grandchildren, proudly taking each to see their first theater performance. Sharon never missed an opportunity to attend her grandchildren's concerts, sporting events, and more-always enthusiastically supporting their activities and interests. You could also find her at Brewers games each summer with friends and family.

Sharon was an avid walker. Most days started with a morning walk, routinely achieving her daily goal of getting over 10,000 steps. She delighted in puzzles and could frequently be found working on her crossword or jigsaw puzzles each afternoon. A devoted bird lover, she maintained her many bird feeders daily and especially loved seeing cardinals, orioles, and hummingbirds.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert; son, Robert (Jean Mohr) Anderson; grandchildren, Jhayson Anderson, Karrie (Josh Drabek) Anderson, Kelsey (AJ Richardson) Anderson and Nathan (Cassandra Bloomingdale) Anderson; great-granddaughter, Tilly Anderson; and sister, Sandy (Tom) Holtan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Marvin Pirkl.
