Sally A. Swanke

MADISON - Sally Ann Swanke, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Oak Park Place. She was born on April 16, 1934, in Baraboo, Wis., the daughter of Arthur and Victoria (Peck) Fillhouer.

Sally graduated from Madison East High School in 1952. She worked as an administrative assistant for the State of Wisconsin for 32 years until the time of her retirement in 1996.

Sally enjoyed traveling and gardening, and she had a passion for feeding birds and squirrels. She looked forward to visiting local greenhouses each spring where she could spend hours shopping for her plants for the season. She was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church for many years.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Peter) Chen; grandchildren, Ana (Cady Myers) Chen, Tara (Viviana Rei) Chen-Rei, Kaleigh Eaden and Lindsay Bush; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victoria and Arthur; daughter, Terri Bush; sister, Jane Triggs; and brother, John Fillhouer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at QUEEN OF APOSTLES PARISH, ST. DENNIS CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, with Father Michael Tarigopula presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Tuesday.
