MADISON - Mary Alice Frey, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at home. She was born on July 15, 1933, in Loreta, Wis., the daughter of Frank and Agnes (McMahon) Dwyer.
Mary graduated from Spring Green High School in 1951. She married Donald G. Frey in 1955. She always looked forward to their annual family trips up north to St. Germain. Mary retired from Madison Newspapers in 1999.
Mary is survived by her sons, Bruce (Julie) Frey and Tim (Karen) Frey; daughters, Patricia Frey, Bernadette (Bob) Gile, DeAnna (Kurt) Smith, Michele (Joe) Kryshak and Anne Marie Schmidt; sister, Patricia Grumke; and 13 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; brother, Michael Dwyer; sister, Kathleen Hansen; and grandson, Wyatt Frey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at QUEEN OF APOSTLES PARISH, ST. DENNIS CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. A luncheon will follow the Mass at the Eagle’s Club, 2109 Bartillon Drive, Madison. Burial will take place at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Plain, Wis. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
Mom was at home, surrounded by comfort and peace. Guided by her family and her faith, she journeyed to a peaceful heaven above.
