Obituary
MADISON - Carol “Sue” Marie Arseneau, age 83, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2025, after a long illness. She was born on January 6, 1942, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Bayer) Fetzer.
Sue went to St. Michael's and Mother of Good Counsel grade schools, and then Pius XI High School, in Milwaukee, graduating in 1960. She worked for a short time as a secretary for the City of Milwaukee but left her role in 1963 to get married to John "Jack" Arseneau in October of that same year.
Sue met Jack while attending a baseball game he was pitching at. He then invited her to a wedding that night, and they went on to be married for 61 years. She enjoyed a variety of activities, including golf, bowling and dancing. Jack and Sue were members of a dance club in the 1980s and 1990s, which helped to keep them active. Another favorite hobby was solving crossword puzzles, she was so good at them she completed them in ink pen, not pencil! Sue loved being a part of a "birthday club" of ladies associated with the contractor’s association where Jack worked in Madison for many years. She enjoyed serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Middleton for many years. When they lived in Mequon, she volunteered her secretarial and cooking skills to St. Cecilia's Parish & School. A Brewers fan, the family will always remember the Brewers game tailgates with amazing food she prepared. Sue loved her family, with special love for her grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Michele (Michael R. Solberg) Arseneau; sons, Michael Arseneau and Steven (Christina) Arseneau; grandsons, Dominic Solberg and Theodore Arseneau; granddaughter, Eleanor Arseneau; and sister, Virginia Chmiel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph; brother, Robert "Bob" (Diane) Fetzer; father-in-law, Marvin Arseneau; mother-in-law, Valeria Arseneau; and brother-in-law, John "Jack" Chmiel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held AT ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025, with Father Brian Dulli presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
