Obituary
MADISON - Amanda L. “Amy” Schwoegler, 55, peacefully passed away on April 17, 2025, at AgraceHospice Care. Born on February 17, 1970, in Madison, the daughter of Ronald and Adele "Dee" (Svanoe) Schwoegler, she walked through life with an unwavering sense of purpose and a genuine kindness that touched all who knew her.
Amanda grew up on the east side of Madison. She graduated from La Follette High School in 1988 and from UW-Madison with a bachelor's degree and a master’s in environmental monitoring. Amanda worked for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the UW-Madison, Department of Education, and most recently for Tribute Tech, where her remarkable skills shone through in her role as a product manager.
Amanda was united in marriage to Daniel Crandall in 2014. Together they nurtured a narrative of love and compassion, creating a legacy of warmth and happiness.
Amanda's passions painted a colorful tapestry of interests. Her time in the high school band sparked a lifelong engagement with live music. Her adventurous spirit led her to live in New Zealand for several years after college, where she indulged her love for travel and immersive cultural experiences. A true explorer at heart, Amanda found solace in the serenity of nature, often found gardening, bird watching, or enjoying quiet walks. Her enthusiasm for the outdoors transcended into activities like meditation, paddleboarding, cycling and generously volunteered at local festivals.
Following her breast cancer diagnosis in 2019, Amanda’s indomitable spirit drove her to become an entrepreneur, creating platforms to support others and sharing her incredible journey. She devoted herself to homeopathic medical remedies.
Above all, Amanda took great pride in her career and its impact and cared deeply for her family and friends. Her life was an open invitation to cherish our connections and to invest time in one another. Her memory will be a reminder of her enduring message: to live fully, love deeply, and tread lightly upon the Earth. Her luminous spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Amanda is survived by her husband, Daniel; step-son, Kian Hrenak; mother, Dee Schweogler; brother, Rodney Schwoegler; mother-in-law, Darlene (Richard) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Mike (Ann) Crandall, Bob Crandall and Aaron (Pili Casal-Crandall) Crandall; sister-in-law, Kathy (Rod) Hall; nieces, Andrea and Leah Schwoegler; uncles, Atlee (Julie) Svanoe, Jim (Linda) Svanoe, Rolf (Kimberly) Svanoe, Alan (Mary) Schwoegler and Steven (Sharon) Schwoegler; aunt, Kristi (Joe Zitkus) Svanoe Zitkus; and Amanda's Fur Babies, Minkie and Mongo. She was preceded in death by father, Ronald; father-in-law, William "Bill" Crandall; paternal grandparents, Rodney and Agnes (Furrer) Schwoegler; maternal grandparents, Ansgar and Melva (Loftsgordon) Svanoe.
A celebration of her life will be held at MCCARTHY YOUTH & CONSERVATION PARK, 4841 County Road TT, Cottage Grove, Wis., starting at 12 noon on Saturday, August 23, 2025. A potluck lunch will be held followed by a time to remember Amanda. All who knew and loved Amanda are welcome. Thank you, all of you, for being in Amanda's life. Being with one another, sharing our stories and memories together, is what she would have liked.
Memorials may be made to the Nature Conservancy or a local animal shelter. Or, Amanda would encourage you to pursue that passion, project or destination that you have been putting off or waiting for the ‘right time’ to do. Amanda would tell you that now is the right time to do this for yourself or help push others to do the same. This is what would make her happy.
