Barbara Jean Swenson

MADISON - Barbara Jean Swenson, age 73, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Madison. She was born on September 28, 1951, in Madison, the daughter of Martin S. Swenson and Shirley L. Franke.

Barbara graduated from LaFollette High School in 1969. She worked as an edit analyst for WPS for 49 years, retiring on December 3, 2018.

Barbara enjoyed reading, watching Men’s UW hockey and football, women’s basketball and movies and going shopping.

Barbara is survived by her siblings, Jerry (Betty) Swenson and Janice Schoff; Tom (Barb) Swenson; Debbi Swenson; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, E. John Schoff.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Thursday, April 10, 2025, with the Rev. Nick Utphall and Pastor Elisa Brandt presiding. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
