Charlie enters the big sleep with the energy, humor, and honesty that were a hallmark of his life. Yesterday, today and tomorrow when you say Charlie I will smile. A lovely man who created so many warm memories for so many of us.

I met Charlie in 1983. I was a fledgling plaintiff attorney and he was on the defense. He phoned me to discuss a case. His first comment was his disgust that Edgewood was banning Halloween costumes. It was the first of many “Charlie rants” I heard over the years.
Charlie saved me from the chaos of McManus Law Offices and hired me in 1985. I couldn’t have asked for a better boss. He was kind, he was patient, he was smart, he was funny, and he taught me so many things. He second-chaired my first jury trial.
Charlie and Sharon took me into their family during that time, taking me to fish fries and inviting me to family dinners. I had the pleasure of seeing their boys grow up, exploring their garden on West Lawn, and (of course) marveling over their Halloween decorations each October.
He was encyclopedic: hogs, maps, remodeling, the Civil War.
My world was a better place because Charlie was in it. I will miss him.
