Obituary

The Lord blessed Adolph and Edith Bauer with their daughter, Judy Kay, in Wessington Springs, S.D., on July 9, 1943. She was a cute little girl that brought joy to their home on the farm. As she grew into her toddler years and observed her mother's tasks, she quickly started her own little motherhood with her doll and established her own house within the home. She also created an imaginary home in one of the farm outbuildings. To the chagrin of her younger brother, Gene, she would dress him like a girl and make him her daughter in her imaginary households. He would have to do what she said and eat her imaginary food that she cooked for him and do whatever else her little motherly mind felt to be necessary.

Judy attended grade school in a single room schoolhouse in the country. She walked to school in all the weather that South Dakota could muster up. Her parents or a neighbor would give her a ride if the weather was too nasty for walking. As she got a little older, she would occasionally ride a horse to school. Those were the good old days.

Judy went to high school in Wessington Springs and graduated in 1961. She then went to college and got her teaching degree. She taught grades 1 through 4 for several years and then went to the Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minn., to advance her education. She spent her summers in Baraboo, Wis., to earn money for her education and attended Bethal Memorial Baptist Church, which was pastored by Clinton C. Housley. He was her pastor in Wessington Springs when she was in her preteens and early teens.

Ronald Housley decided to drive from Darien, Wis., to Baraboo, Wis., to visit his uncle, Clinton Housley. He was invited to stay for lunch and without his knowledge, Judy was also invited for lunch. The rest became history. Judy and Ron got engaged on September 7, 1968, and got married on December 7, 1968. The Lord blessed their home with Ronald Housley Jr. on September 17, 1969, (56) and on May 7, 1971, another son was born, named Chad Housley (Deceased).

Judy's parents always attended church and took their two children with them. Judy accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 9. She has served the Lord in a variety of capacities throughout her life. (Sunday school teaching, nursery work, vacation bible school, choir, family camp teaching, missionary gift package assembly, Christmas play prep work, and event banquet planning.)

Judy was preceded in death by her son, Chad Housley; her parents, Adolph and Edith Bauer; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Housley (80); son, Ronald (Lisa) Housley Jr.; grandson, Ronald (Alyssa) Housley III; brother, Gene (Maggie) (77); and cousin, Vera.

A funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 1801 S. Thompson Road, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, followed by a luncheon at the church and burial at Hillside Cemetery, Genoa City. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

(Romans 5:1-2) "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."
