Doug James Wendt

MADISON / CROSS PLAINS - Douglas “Doug” J. Wendt, age 53, of Madison/Cross Plains, passed away on March 16, 2025. He was born on January 6, 1972, in Madison to James and Roxanna Wendt.

Doug was incredibly proud of his son, Joey, especially when he scored his first soccer goal - a moment he cherished deeply and spoke of often. His pride in his son’s accomplishments knew no bounds, and he was always there on the sidelines, cheering him on with a smile.

An avid poker player, Doug loved the thrill of the game and the camaraderie it brought. Whether he was holding a winning hand or bluffing his way through, he always played with heart and a sense of humor that made everyone at the table feel like a winner.

Doug is survived by his son, Joey; parents, Jim and Roxie Wendt; sister, Donna (Bill) Faulkner; nephews, Tommy and Matthew; his special friends, Lisa Nethery and Carla Clemens; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Norma Wendt and Bob and Doris Tucker.

A celebration of life service will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO MOUNT HOREB FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 500 N. Eighth St., Mount Horeb, at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Doug will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
