Obituary

MCFARLAND - Barbara Ann Lindemann, age 77, of McFarland, passed away in the early hours on Monday, March 3, 2025. She was born on February 3, 1948, the youngest daughter of Roland and Alta (Polivka) Koerth.

Barb graduated from Edgewood High School in 1966 and then continued her education at Edgewood College where she earned her bachelor’s degree.  She married James Lindemann, son of Margaret (Hopkins) and Maximillian Lindemann, on May 31, 1969. They moved to Texas for a few years while Jim trained and served in the U.S. Navy before returning to Wisconsin.

Barb taught evening typing courses at a technical college near Campbellsport, WI, which is where they had their first home. Jim’s career in elementary and secondary teaching and administration moved the family to multiple areas throughout Wisconsin over the years as he worked in different school districts. They settled in McFarland, WI when their eldest daughter entered high school. Barb also worked for UW-Madison within the Department of Educational Psychology for a number of years before her retirement.

Barb was a faithful and devout Catholic. She enjoyed gardening and ran a CSA for a number of years. She enjoyed canning and selling produce from her garden at various farmer’s markets in the area. Barb was an avid reader whose talents also included crocheting, knitting, and sewing. Barb loved to travel and in addition to visiting numerous European countries she once took the Orient Express across Russia.

Barb is survived by her daughters, Kate Herbolsheimer and Bernadette Lindemann; son, Peter (Serrianna Likness) Lindemann; three grandchildren, Bennett Herbolsheimer, Emma Herbolsheimer and Katarina Kierkegaard; and sister, Mary Jo (Gene) Brink. She was preceded in death by husband, Jim; and parents, Roland and Alta.

She is missed by those who loved her most.

A private interment will be held with only immediate family.

Memorials may be gifted in Barb's name to The Trevor Project.

Barb and I worked together on a Sacred Hearts writing assignment, and we had a great time learning about the brand-new state of Hawaii. I remember that she did beautiful drawings to go with our essay. Lots of good memories from Sun Prairie friends.

Sending sincere condolences on the loss of both of your parents. While I didn't know your Mom, I did have your Dad as my Social Studies teacher way back in '78/'79 in West Bend. I remember him fondly and even as a dopey kid, admired his empathy and strength in teaching.
