Obituary
DEFOREST - Laura Marcus Blustein passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Sienna Crest in DeForest, Wis. She was born on November 15, 1950, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of a classical music composer, Adabelle Gross, and a NASA mechanic, Isadore Marcus. Laura dedicated her life to special education, teaching students to read with unmatched passion.
Laura’s heart radiated love for her surviving children, Daniel and Emily Blustein; her granddaughter, Miriam; her dog, Nara; and a wide circle of friends and relatives from near and far. In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Jean Waxler, and her brother, Norman Lewis Marcus.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Chase Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservancy, Webster, Fla., or the Waisman Center Early Childhood Program, Madison, Wis., in support of youth literacy.
