Obituary

CROSS PLAINS - Henry Michael Bollerud passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born to Karl Isaac and Edna Viola (Jacobson) on May 22, 1942, in Harvard, Ill.

Henry was the youngest of five children and one of his sisters even took him to school for show and tell. The family lived and worked several farms, but it was in Spring Green where Henry met the love of his life, Mary Jantzen. She would ride her bike back and forth across the driveway of the Bollerud Farm hoping to catch the attention of Henry. Her persistence did pay off and they were married on August 22, 1964. Mary did set conditions that you will have to ask her about. Together they raised two children.

Growing up on a farm instilled the work ethic that Henry took pride in for the 40 years that he worked at Graber’s / Springs Window Fashions before he retired.

Henry was also an amazing husband and father. He did everything he could to make sure his family had everything that they wanted. It did not matter if it was a few minutes of peace and quiet or a dream car. Henry did his best to make it happen. He always put his family before himself. Henry also loved the many years that he volunteered with the Special Olympics. He would light up as he talked about those that he has known throughout the years.

Henry is survived by his best friend and wife, Mary; his son and right-hand man, Mike; his daughter who was the apple of his eye, Wendy (Shane) Davis; his sister, Shirley Fisher; and sister-in-law, Judy Bollerud. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Edith (Leonard) Kitchen and Helene (Darrel) Silbaugh; brother, Karl; and brother-in-law, Robert Fisher.

A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON CROSS PLAINS FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2421 Church St., Cross Plains, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, with the hope that many stories that have not been heard and pictures that have not been seen may be shared.
