Obituary

OREGON - Karl Stanley Mockrud died on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Stoughton Hospital after a short illness. He was 79 years old.


Karl was born before midnight on December 13, 1945, followed by the birth of his twin sister, Kathryn, after midnight on December 14, 1945, in Madison, Wis. He joined his parents, Stanley and Nora (Noringseth) Mockrud and seven siblings, Nola, Annette, Nancy, Karen, Solveig, Roald and Mary at their Seventh Street home on the Eastside. It was a neighborhood filled with Norwegians, Swedes and Germans and lots of kids to have adventures with.


Karl attended Emerson Grade School and graduated from Madison East High. After graduation he started what would be a long career at Madison Kipp and where he would meet his future wife, Dolores. His final position was as Value Stream Manager before his retirement.


Karl is survived by his three daughters, Vicki Frisch and twins, Jean Widener and Joan Mockrud; stepdaughter, Diana (Joseph) Ewoldt; sisters, Annette Carlson, Karen Manion and Mary Pierce; and brother, Roald Mockrud. Karl also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved “the great one” dearly. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Dolores; sisters, Nola Lindsay, Nancy Field, Sally Parks and Kathryn Mockrud; and parents, Stanley and Nora Mockrud.


A family service will take place at Roselawn Memory Gardens where he will join his loving wife, Dolores.

Karl and Dolores were the best neighbors and friends. I sure missed them when they move from Aberdeen and will miss my conversations with Karl as we kept in touch after he lost Dolores. Keeping you all in my prayers
