Obituary
MADISON - Our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Husband, our "Rock" was called to Heaven on Monday, February 17, 2025, after a brief illness.
Jerry was born in Madison, Wis., on July 5, 1935, to Lucille and William Ritchie. He lived the majority of his early years in Cobb, Wis., where he met the love of his life and wife, Patricia Jane Ritchie. Jerry and Pat were married on June 1, 1957, and lived a long, beautiful life together for 67 years, filled with life adventures. They moved to Madison, Wis., and welcomed their daughter, Renee', and son, Tim.
Family was Jerry's pride and joy. He taught us about love, dedication and hard work. There isn't a person Jerry couldn't talk to and he had a sparkling sense of humor.
Jerry was a true artisan and craftsman whose life's work was spent beautifying God's houses/churches with stained glass, gold leafing and expert design, all across Wisconsin and even our state capitol rotunda.
Jerry had a lifelong passion for the Cubs, that we're not sure anyone else can surpass. He was ever-present at his grandchildren's swim meets, dance competitions, dance recitals, hockey, baseball and football games.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Patricia Ritchie; his children, Renee' Ritchie and Tim (Maggie) Ritchie; and his four grandchildren, Kera (Dan) Oryall, Kylie Denk, Patrick Ritchie and Daniel (Samantha Spellman) Ritchie; as well as his brother, Marvin (Patti) Ritchie; and his sister, Donna Lou (John) Hansen. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucille Ritchie; and his sister, Arlene Ritchie.
Dear Dad, Grandpa, Jerry - You will live on in our hearts every day and you are loved tremendously. We know you will be sitting next to God's side watching over all of us, with sweet Sammy in your lap.
Our hearts are broken, but the blessings and guidance you have given us will outweigh our sadness. Heaven has truly gained an angel. Fly high. We love you.
To honor Jerry's wishes, in lieu of formal funeral services, an immediate family-only dinner will be held in the near future to celebrate his wonderful life and impact on us all.
