Obituary
MADISON - Kenneth Murrey “Ken” Dyer, age 80, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025. He was born on June 14, 1944, in Madison, the son of Marion and Bernice (Gilbertson) Dyer.
Ken graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1962. He married Sharon Varese on July 17, 1965, in Madison. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War in Germany.
Ken worked as a meat slicer for Oscar Mayer for 31 years, retiring in 1998. After retiring, he went to work with Traven Graphics for 15 years.
Ken enjoyed being outside and putzing with his lawn, and he could often be found sitting on his front porch with his German Shepherd, Luna. Ken and Sharon bowled in many leagues over the years, and he loved to garden with his grandkids and spend time with them. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and best friend.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Sharon; two daughters, Kimberly (Ronald) Jantzen and Dena Bender; four grandsons, Kevin Dyer, Dan Dyer, Jake Jantzen and Cain Jantzen; two great-grandchildren, Alli Dyer, Shawn Dyer; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and friends He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Marion; two brothers, Walter "Sonny" Dyer and Marion "Mert" Dyer; and two sisters, Lois "Tudy" Carson and Nata Guess.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. A celebration of life will be held at KENNETH’S RESIDENCE, 217 Harding St., Madison, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
