Obituary

MADISON - Marilynne K. Strassburg, age 83, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Oak Park Place. She was born on November 28, 1941, the daughter of Ralph and Fern (Deininger) Bridge.

Marilynne graduated from Juda High School in 1959 and married Paul Strassburg that same year.  Together they owned Floral Designs by Paul for many years.  After they sold the business, Marilynne worked in records keeping for MG&E for 15 years.

Marilynne’s family was her pride and joy and taking care of them was her main priority. While her children were growing up, she opened her home to anyone, often becoming a second parent to many of her children’s friends. Marilynne loved reading, especially mysteries, playing cribbage and cheering on the Badger Men’s Basketball team, the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Lakers.  She never missed an opportunity to support her children and grandchildren in whatever they did.  She loved to watch Scott, and his friends play softball and rarely missed a game.

Marilynne is survived by her sons, Scott (Stacey Nevar-Strassburg) Strassburg and Monte Strassburg; and grandchildren, Kayla (Allen) Darkow and Connor (Barrisha) Strassburg and great grandchildren, Eleanor Darkow, Micah and Kai Strassburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Fern; brother, Fred (Lou) Bridge; and sister, Nancy (Bill) Davies.

In keeping with Marilynne’s wishes, no services will be held.  A special thank you to the staff at Oak Park Place-East and Agrace HospiceCare for their exceptional and compassionate care.

Memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society, American Heart Association or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I worked with Marilyn her whole time at MGE. She was always a pleasure to work with. We kept in touch after her retirement by always exchanging Christmas cards with notes of "what's happening" in side. She was a lovely person. Sorry for your loss. Vickie co- worker.

I worked at MGE with Marilynne. She was a delight and a very generous person. She and many others at mge started “Friends Helping Friends” group. We raised money to help anyone that was in need. We supported many families with food and gifts over the holidays. Marilynne was instrumental in organizing the events and collecting and distributing items for our friends and families that were in need. I will always remember her smile and generous spirit. ❤️

I’m so sorry for your loss. I grew up a neighbor 3 houses down in JUDA, Kay (Gempeler) Baier. One of my favorite memories were of how she and Bonnie Arnsmeier would come down to our yard and do acrobatics with me, teaching me their skills. I looked up to them since I was a few years younger but they still gave me their time. It meant so much and I became a cheerleader through out HS putting those skills to cheering on the Panthers. I also was a customer at Paul’s Floral which was just a mile from our house and visited with her. She was an awesome childhood friend; also had your mom as a teacher too! God Bless you all.
