Obituary

OREGON - Neil Samuel Eyers, age 83, of Oregon, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at The Courtyard at Fitchburg Assisted Living. He was born on July 24, 1941, in Boscobel, Wis., the son of Robert “Bearl” and Leah B. (Crum) Eyers.

Neil graduated from Boscobel High School in 1959 and went on to take Civil Engineering classes at UW-Platteville. Neil met the love of his life and on March 20, 1965, he married Judy (Kemper) Eyers at Lancaster Methodist Church. In 1962, he went to work for Mutual of Omaha, winning many sales awards in his over 30 years selling insurance. In June 1993, he founded his own travel agency, Condo Vacations and Travel, which he owned and operated for many years until he retired in 2024.

Over the years Neil was a member of the Fitchburg Jaycees, the Four Lakes Yacht Club, played softball, and a longtime league bowler. He was an avid Packers, Badgers and Brewers fan. In his free time, he enjoyed deer hunting with his family, turkey hunting with his sons and grandsons, and elk hunting in Colorado with friends. Back in the day, Neil and Judy liked to take RV adventures with his California sister and brother-in-law or hosting them, and the Winnebago, in the family’s west side back yard. He loved to fish with Gary, his brother-in-law, and friends in Minocqua, and especially with his favorite guide in Cable, Wis. He even took his children, their wives and his grandchildren along on many Up North fishing adventures! He lived to host and entertain both friends and family, treasuring family holidays, birthdays, and anniversary dinners, many of which were held in the family home. He also looked forward to annual extended family gathering weekends at Christmas Mountain in the Dells. All these trips always included lots of food, stories, Euchre and lots of laughs! He also loved to travel to warm, sunny places like Hawaii, St. Lucia, the Caribbean, Mexico and more.

Neil is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Craig (Lisa) Eyers; daughter-in-law, Vicki Eyers; grandchildren, Melissa (Forrest) Cantwell, Zach (Naomi) Eyers, Samantha (TJ) Deardorff and Colton Eyers; great-grandchildren, Addison and Theodore Cantwell; as well as other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeff Eyers; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia (Eyers) and Bill Seeley; and brother, Robert C. Eyers.

I am so sorry to hear of Neil’s passing. I knew Neil from many years ago in Lancaster, WI when his wife Judy’s sister (Susan Kemper Stich) and I were hanging around together. Judy was my baby sitter, and then getting to know Neil created many memories. I remember going to the West Side Business Men’s Club when he was working there and had many a great meal. Going to their house in Madison was always fun because Neil and Judy were excellent hosts. I will not be able to make the funeral since I have a wedding to be at that day but will certainly be thinking of all of you. Linda Ardelt Martin
