Obituary

MIDDLETON/CROSS PLAINS - This world has lost a great light. Andrew "Andy" Holdorf, age 46, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 7, 2025. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on July 4, 1978, to Jennifer Simon Utter and Howard Holdorf. His mom and brother, Ryan, moved to Middleton in 1987.

After graduating from Middleton High School in 1997, Andy’s adventurous spirit took him to St. John V.I., Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and eventually landed in the Mountains of Colorado. He then studied art therapy at Naropa University, Boulder.

Andy was a talented artist who turned his gift into his own business, Six Roses Tattoo in Middleton. Andy's kindness, big heart, and even bigger smile touched all those who knew him.

Andy is survived by his parents; step-dad, Terry Utter; daughters, Florence and Fergie (Ferguson), and their mother, Molly Holdorf; sister, Kelly Utter Edwards (Tim); brothers, Ryan Holdorf (Erin Weides) and Kurt Utter (Julie); four nieces, Devan, Emily, and McKenna Utter, and Katrina Edwards; nephew, Will Edwards; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Andy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Dolores Simon, and Delmer and Pat Holdorf; aunt, DeDe Kessenich; uncles, Chris and Bob Holdorf; and cousins, Nate Utter, Charlie Frohne, Rylee Payne, Christina Simon, and Sian Holdorf.

A special service for Andy will be held at ST. ANDREW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6815 Schneider Road, Middleton, on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Greeting the family and visitation will be held from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with a church service at 2 p.m. The family invites loved ones and friends to gather for sharing memories and nourishment after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a fund dedicated to the education and experiences that Andy wanted for Florence and Ferguson. Memorial checks can be made out to Florence and Ferguson, ℅ Gunderson Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, WI 53716 or to Jennifer Utter’s Venmo @Jennifer-Utter-1 (verify with digits 2904).

Andrew was a really good friend to me...he was my artist for many years... "cut me mic!" Was a saying he and I joked about before he began tattooing me...I loved him like a brother and helped him move when nobody else could help... he truly was a great man! He will be missed but he left his mark on the world and changed so many lives! I treasured our friendship great! Rest in peace brother 🙏 I love you!

We used to live next door to the Holdorfs in Marion, IA. Andy was probably 2-3 years old and in the nice weather, he would stand on his deck and holler "Hi Bob" every time I would be outside, get in my car, etc. He never missed an opportunity and I have to say it always brightened my day. Sad to hear this news! Bob Neilly former neighbor

I met Andrew when we both worked at the Co-op in Middleton,WI. Andrew and I instantly bonded over music, tattoos, skating, and more. We became very good friends, some people would say we had a "bromance" lol I will never forget the time when he spun records at a friends Halloween party or when we rocked out to REO Speedwagon at Summerfest. Andrew was one of a kind and I am forever grateful that our paths crossed. May your soul find peace and comfort. Goodbye, my friend 🤟
