William "Bill" Chester Leiser
November 29, 1942 - February 04, 2025
Obituary
DODGEVILLE - William Chester “Bill” Leiser, age 82, of Dodgeville, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on November 29, 1942, in Madison, the son of Chester and Esther (Hines) Leiser.
William graduated from Madison East High School in 1960 and served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as an electrical technician in the biomedical field.
Bill was always fixing things, for his friends, family and neighbors. He enjoyed working on his cars and driving them around. His favorites over the years were his Jaguar XK-E, his Fiat and his Porsche 928 and 911. As a Porsche Club member, Bill was able to drive his Porsche on the track at Elk Heart Lake between races -- a "bucket list” item that he proudly reminisced about on occasion.
Bill loved the outdoors and spent countless hours gardening, taking walks and working outside. He always looked forward to the annual family trip “up North” to go muskie fishing on Lake Namekagon and he liked a nice glass of scotch and cigar on occasion. He loved his family above all, and he kept those relationships close to his heart.
William is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Luke) Van Lanen; son, George Leiser; four grandchildren, Owen Van Lanen, Olivia Van Lanen, Elayna Leiser and Ethan Leiser; former wife, Mary Leiser; sister, Jacqueline Schuetz; nephew, James (Joan) Schuetz; along with many other beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Chester; sisters, Laurine (Larry) Higgins and Marlene (Ronald) Slamka; brother, Robert Leiser; and brother-in-law, Michael Schuetz.
