MADISON - Jean Jenny Smiley, age 98, of Madison, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, at UW Health East Madison Hospital. She was born on February 24, 1926, in Chicago, the daughter of Silvio and Cherubina (Quericoni) Benedetti.
Jean graduated from Morton East High School in 1944. She married Walter Thomas Smiley Jr. on October 1, 1949, in Cicero, Ill.
Everyone loved Jean, she was very generous and giving. She loved spending time with family, especially at their family home in Springstead, Wis. Jean was a generous host and loved having people over at their house. She would cook for them and host parties frequently. Jean was blessed with six kids. She was a full-time mom and taking care of her family was her life.
Jean is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Larry) Glen and Sharon (Mark) Andrus; three and sons, Tom (Nick) Smiley, Daniel Smiley and Mark (Julie) Smiley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; son, Michael Smiley; daughter-in-law, Joyce Smiley-Hall; sister, Lori Del Carlo; and brother-in-law, Dewey Del Carlo.
