Obituary

VERONA - Rachel Marie Stampfli, 61, of Verona, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025. She was born May 7, 1963, at Madison General Hospital to Roy and Dorothy Watkins. Rachel grew up in Dayton, Wis., with her six siblings and graduated from Belleville High School in 1981. She married Kevin Stampfli on October 1, 1983, at the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. Rachel worked at Cuna Mutual Group (TruStage Financial) as a Pension Specialist.


Rachel appreciated the simple things in life and loved nothing more than relaxing with a good book and spending time with her family. Her favorite vacation spots were the family cabin and Bailey’s Harbor, Door County. Openhearted and fun loving, Rachel was a lifelong rock and roll enthusiast, Queen and Pearl Jam being amongst her favorites. A forward thinking and kind woman, Rachel could win over anyone with her infectious laugh and charm.


Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.


Rachel is survived by her husband, Kevin Stampfli; her children, Brooke (Alice Johnson) Stampfli, Melanie (Ryan) Kinjerski, Alexa (Maxim) Shershnev and Connor Stampfli; her grandchildren, Joanna and Charlotte Kinjerski; her siblings, Rhonda (Jim) Schliem, Debra (Ron) Zettle, Janis (John) Diederich, Jim (Betty) Watkins, Dan (Sally) Watkins and Joel (Jackie) Watkins; as well other relatives and friends.


A celebration of life will be held at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Ave., Madison, in the Evjue Commons Room, from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

We had so much fun together! Aunt Rachel gave me my first make up tutorial. I used to watch her do her hair and makeup in awww, she was beautiful inside and out. Rach had an infectious smile and laugh that I will never ever forget. Rest easy- Love Trina

To Rachel's family and friends, I am a former co-worker at CMG. Rachel was a fantastic specialist and I remember sharing some infectious laughs with her. She will be missed. May you all hold her in your hearts.
