Obituary
MADISON - Jerald J. “Jerry” Midak, age 66, of Madison, passed away due to complications with the flu and infections on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at UW Hospital and Clinics. He was born on June 22, 1958, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Edna Laura Digby and John Stanley Midak.
Jerry worked in the cement finishing business his entire life, starting out with his stepdad when he was 16. He worked for A&E Concrete for many years and then went on to work for J.H. Findorff until his retirement in 2018.
Jerry loved watching the Wisconsin Badgers and the Chicago Cubs, razing all his Milwaukee Brewers fans whenever he could. Jerry also enjoyed driving his Corvette, fishing and working with his hands. He could fix almost anything and would try no matter what. Friends could always rely on him to help whenever asked.
Jerald is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kathy; brother, Scott Midak; nieces, Shannon Heiman and Molly Frelack; and faithful companions, Morgan and Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and John; sisters, Ann and Tricia; and his pride and joy, Miss Niko and Houdini.
Jerry was a proud member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa of Wisconsin where a formal tribal ceremony will be held for immediate family in the near future in Hayward, Wis., to let Jerry soar like the eagles. He never received a name from the tribe, so he gave one to himself years ago, as most of his friends will remember: Silver Fox Who Runs Quickly to Tavern.
A celebration of life will be held at AMERICAN LEGION POST NO. 534, 4911 Burma Road, McFarland, at 12 noon on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
