Obituary

MADISON - Nanci Barbara Risop, age 61, of Madison, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at UW Hospital and Clinics. She was born on July 28, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Wolfgang and Martha (Ratke) Risop.


Nanci studied sports medicine at Northern Illinois University.  She worked at Central Wisconsin Center in Madison for a period of time as a nurse’s aide. Nanci was a helper to her core and simply wanted to help people who could not help themselves.  Later, she worked in medical billing for a private practice insurance company.


Nanci was a very outgoing and active person. She enjoyed running both for fun and competitively throughout school. Nanci passed the time with gardening and was very proud of her plants. She also loved her cats, of which she had many in her life.


Nanci is survived by brother, Marc (Sari) Risop; nephew, Owen; and niece, Eve.


A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, Wisconsin, from 1 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on March 10, 2025.
