CROSS PLAINS - Carol (Iverson) Pelowsky, age 78, of Cross Plains, Wis., passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. She was born on October 7, 1946, in Waseca, Minn., the daughter of Jermit and Ann (Kampen) Iverson.
Carol’s family moved to Mankato, Minn. when her father opened his auto repair garage there. Carol graduated from Mankato High School in 1964, and upon graduating, she went to work at a senior living place as a nursing assistant. In 1966, she met Ed Pelowsky of Le Center and in December 1968 the couple married and settled in Rochester, Minn.
Carol worked at the 7 UP Bottling Company in Rochester while Ed finished work on his college degree. When Ed graduated, the couple moved to Waterloo, Iowa where Ed worked as an insurance adjuster. They had their son, Mark, when they were in Waterloo. They would later move to Adel, Iowa when Ed got a promotion.
The family then moved to their current home in Cross Plains when Ed took a job with CUNA Mutual Insurance in Madison. Carol was a mother and housewife until her son went to high school. At that time, she took a job as a school bus driver for the Middleton/Cross Plains School District. She did this for 15 years while also assisting in the kitchen in one of the schools.
Carol was an avid seamstress, and she made the vast majority of all her family’s clothing. She also painted Norwegian art on plates Ed made, and she sold them at various area stores.
Carol is survived by her husband, Ed; son, Mark; brother, Gary; and nieces, Melisa Iverson, Heather Iverson and Stacy Hammer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Jermit.
Burial will take place in Mankato, Minn., at a later date.
