MARSHFIELD - Judith A. “Judy” Barth, age 82, of Marshfield, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Marshfield Medical Center. She was born on June 14, 1942, in Madison, the daughter of Edward and Marguerite (Pond) Pohlman.
Judy graduated from Madison East High School in 1960 and from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa with a math degree in 1962. She was united in marriage to Dennis Barth on August 16, 1963.
Judy was the best mother and grandmother and loved helping raise her grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her, and they brought her so much joy. She always puts others needs ahead of her own.
Second to her family, Judy was passionate about hockey. She was a Badgers hockey fan and was proud of being the founder of the Waunakee Youth Hockey Program. Judy’s kids grew up on the ice rink and she was a supportive hockey mom and grandma, and made sure the kids made it to practices and to games all over the state. Judy sat on the board of directors for the Dane County Youth Hockey Association and Blue Line Club, that supports UW hockey.
In addition to hockey, she enjoyed attending the Badger Midget and Sprint Car auto races every Sunday and camping at Fish Lake in Lodi. In her spare time, she enjoyed canning, sewing and crocheting.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Debra Barth; sons, Jeff (Lisa) Barth and Scott (Kim) Barth; grandchildren, Collin Barth, Jacob Barth, Cooper Barth, Amanda Alcorta, Melissa Alcorta, Travis (Victoria) Barth and Brandon Barth; great-grandchildren, Paisleigh, Oaklee, Drake, Armani, Ramiro and Kyrie; sisters, Marguerite Shovlain, Carol Anderson, Kathy (Mike) Keleher and Cindy Stroede; brother, Edward Pohlman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Barth; and brothers-in-law, Patrick Stephen Shovlain and Bob Anderson.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of the service on Friday.
