Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE - Christine “Tina” Anderson, 74, of Cottage Grove, Wis., passed away on January 17, 2025. She was born in November 1950, in Chicago, Ill.

Tina is survived by her husband, Jack Anderson; son, Chris (Angela) Anderson; daughter, Tessie Johnson; and step-daughter, Lisa (Richard) Coleman; grandchildren, Alexandria, Case, Logan and Taylor Anderson, Penelope and Eva Johnson, Brittany (Mike) Hoffarth and Michael (Marisa) Coleman; and great-grandchild, Olivia Hoffarth. She is also survived by her brother, Chris Tondola; and sister, Carmie (Jim) Frey. Tina was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Chris Tondola; and her siblings, Rose Remsik and Jim Tondola.

Tina held a profound love for her family and Italian heritage. As a devoted wife, friend, and beloved dance partner to Jack, she left a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her love for her children - Chris, Tessie, and Lisa - was deeply felt and witnessed by all.  Her lively and fun spirit made her admired by many, and she was a trusted mentor and confidant. For many of her children's friends, she was a second mother. Tina truly was one-of-a-kind.

She attended Alvernia High School (Chicago, Ill.), Northeastern Illinois University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree, and Northwestern University, obtaining a Master of Arts degree.

Early in her career, Tina was actively involved in education, being a teacher in public schools, and a successful Board of Director at Oakton Community College. After her education career, Tina pivoted to the insurance industry, working as an insurance adjuster and running a self-owned adjusting company with her husband, Jack.

After retirement, Tina devoted her time to genealogy and founded the non-profit organization, Poggioreale in America (PIA), an organization that connects descendants of those who emigrated from Poggioreale, Sicily, and now live in America or Australia, and was the PIA President. Tina built valuable friendships with so many around the world. Her dedication and passion for her heritage helped unite many Poggiorealese ancestors and descendants from around the world. Tina’s passion also led her to author three books related to Poggioreale. Just before her death, Tina was presented with an Honorary Citizenship for the town of Poggioreale, Sicily. She was always working to preserve and present Poggioreale history and stories.

Tina was my big sister, protector and friend. We always shared a very special bond. We laughed and cried together our whole life. She lived with us in Indiana and we had the best time ever. I will miss her as my heart aches for my loss. Go with God. Tell mom I said hi. Love you always, your baby brother Chris.

Tina and I go back to Alvernia - we all had such a fun filled high school experience. There was on very naughty experience as juniors - I won’t say exactly what it was but it did have beer in it! For some reason the girls in our class have always been aware if each other. Over the last 4yrs Tina and I have had many late night messages - therapy for both of us!! Tina had been in my mind the whole week leading up to her passing. Her memories will always be with me. My most sincere condolences to her family💕 Mary Cummings Breski
