Obituary

MOUNT HOREB - Timothy Joseph Milas, age 74, of Mount Horeb, passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was born on August 15, 1950, in Stanley, the son of Joseph and Louise (Przybylski) Milas.

Timothy graduated from Gilman High School in 1969. He was united in marriage to Jennifer Wadziniski in Thorp, Wis., on June 12, 1971.

Tim worked as a police officer in Thorp, Mount Horeb, Blue Mounds and Verona. He volunteered as an EMT and firefighter for Mount Horeb for many years. He also worked for the DNR and taught at MATC-Truax. Prior to his career in law enforcement, in 1970 he went to college in Milwaukee for hotel/restaurant management and culinary arts. While in Milwaukee he worked in his uncle’s Italian restaurant and then the Buttery where he met his friend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

He enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, hunting and gardening. He shared his love for cooking, grilling, smoking meat and cheese, and making sausage with his family and friends. Everything they made was “gouda.” He became lifelong friends with co-workers, neighbors and friends throughout the area. Many friends became “family” through time spent together locally and taking trips fishing on charter boats and barges, annual Wadzinski camping week, hunting locally and many trips to Colorado. He learned a new type of hunting; morel hunting from one of his “sisters,” Mary Kay.

Timothy will be missed by his wife of nearly 54 years, Jennifer; daughter, Noel (Dale "Coop") Schlimgen; grandchildren, Hunter Milas and Memphis Lux; sisters, Marge (Kevin) Baker and Peggy Milas; sisters-in-law, Pamm Ehlert and RoseAnn (Bob) Danczak; brother-in-law, Tom Wadzinski and Frank (Dawn) Wadzinski; nephews, Eric Milas, Ryan (Amy) Danczak, Paul Ehlert, and Ben Wadzinski, Riley Wadzinski and Dylan (Abby) Wadzinski; and nieces, Tamara (Jim) Posin, Paulanne (Joel) Sukow, Sara (Jason) Tracy, Elena (Brad) Fitch, Melissa (Adam) Schlafke, Nicole (David) Jeske, Hope Wadzinski and Candi Wadzinski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Louise (Przybylski) Milas; parents-in-law, Frank and Viola (Hall) Wadzinski; grandparents, Joseph and Magdalena (Kowal) Milas and Ed and Estelle Przbylski; sister, Kathy Milas; sister-in-law, Geralynn Wadzinski; brother-in-law, Paul Ehlert; nephew, Eric Ehlert; great-niece, Emily Tracy; and son, Matthew Milas.

Such a lovely man---he will surely be missed. About 20 years ago, I had locked my keys in my car, he saw me struggling and offered to help. He was unable to open my car, I thanked him for helping me & said I'd walk home to get a spare. He said, "No you won't! I'll TAKE you home--hop in!" I happily opened the back door and got in. "Aaacck---you don't have to sit in the BACK! You can sit in the front!" he said. I said I was fine and we chatted away. He waited while I ran inside to grab a spare key and was holding the passenger door open for me when I returned. What a great guy. My sincere condolences. Rebecca Mataya
