STOUGHTON - Roger Dean Johnson, age 82, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. He was born on December 16, 1942, in Stoughton, the son of Clarence and Adeline (Halverson) Johnson.
Roger graduated from Edgerton High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Navy for five years during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Judith Bohling on June 4, 1966, in Stoughton. He was very mechanically gifted and loved repairing and working on small engines.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing with his son and deer hunting. He was a lifetime member of the Stoughton Conservation Club and a member of VFW Post No. 328. He loved traveling with his wife, especially to see the Rose Bowl twice, the Redwood Forest, Mount Rushmore, Grand Canyon and many national parks, Alaska, State of Liberty and out east so Judy could enjoy lobster. He enjoyed socializing with the neighbors and playing cards, his favorites being, euchre, sheepshead, cribbage and pinochle.
Roger is survived by his wife, Judith; daughters, Diane (Charlie Hung) Johnson-Hung, Cindy (Garrett) Harper; son, Benjamin (Gigi) Johnson; three grandchildren, Laura Hung, Marcus Hung and W. Michael Johnson; sisters, Marion Rusch, Arlene Lehr, Florence (Paul) Hefty, Julie Haines, Carol (Steve) French and Mary Jo (Don Harried) Johnson; sister-in-law, Delores Johnson; and many other sisters-and-brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lori (Donald) Nelson, Virginia Dees and Gay Johnson; brothers, Clarence Johnson Jr., Paul (Gladys) Johnson and Jerry Johnson; and brothers-in-law, Otto Rusch and Richard Lehr.
A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, 3054 County Highway BB, Cottage Grove.
