Darlene's, husband , Hank, played in my ex husbands band., so I knew her for the past 50 years , spent many times with her and her family, because our husbands were off playing in the band all the Time. After being a single Mom for 12 years, I married her brother, Paul, in 1995. She has been a dear friend, and sister in law.💖 She was my son Tony's, God mother, as Well.

Thank you Jesus for being so good to me! I remember when I was a little boy visiting Uncle Snooky, Aunt Darlene, and Cousins Danny & Timmy in Wisconsin and I remember them them visiting me, my brother Ray Jr, my sister Rebecca, my mother & father, Doris Jean and Ray Sr in Indiana. Many years later, when I was grown man, I remember asking my mother, Doris Jean where, if she go anywhere and see anything in the world, where she wanted to go? We thought she would say Graceland or Alaska, but she wanted to go to Wisconsin to see her brother Snooky. Best trip ever, we rented a Black Chevrolet Suburban (limousine) and my brother Ray Jr and I drove my mother Doris Jean cross country from Birmingham, Alabama (where she was living at the time) to Wisconsin to visit Uncle Snooky and Aunt Darlene. I recall it took 16 + hours to get there. My brother and I took turns driving. Doris Jean sat behind us in the middle of the 2nd row of the back seat talking the whole time. The whole time!
A couple of days after we arrived, Uncle Snooky and Aunt Darlene threw a party for their whole family at their house. Dan and Tim and their families, grandkids and great grandkids were all there. I recall I we enjoyed maybe too many beers, maybe too much cheese, lots of stories, pictures, laughs. A lifetime sometimes seems too short. Other times we experience a lifetime in a short period of time and the memories last forever. God bless you and keep you until we meet again.

I met Darlene, “Grandma Grover”, when we moved next door to her home in 1993. I was honored to have her and Hank the godparents to my daughters Taylor and Morgan. Darlene filled our hearts with her accordion music at birthday parties. We would decorate more Christmas cookies than you could imagine! She loved taking the girls to the park when it was covered with white violet flowers. We would have tea and I could tell her anything. Any school project usually involved a run over to Grandma Gover’s for supplies. She mended dolls, dresses, and most of all our hearts. The last time we spoke she said I was always like a daughter to her. To me there is no greater honor. She loved her family fiercely and I am so sorry for your loss. I wish you peace, love and many happy memories as time goes by. I know she will watch over us as she starts a new journey of peace, joy and love.
