Obituary

MIDDLETON - Keith Daniel Koberle, age 38, of Middleton, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025. He was born on August 14, 1986, in Madison, the son of Alan and Connie (Richard) Koberle.

In 2005, Keith was a fourth-generation graduate of Middleton High School. Upon graduating, he attended UW-Milwaukee, where he earned the opportunity to serve an internship in London with the British Parliament studying Political Science. Keith went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Web Software Development from MATC.

Keith possessed a deep love for the natural world and all living creatures.  His love of gardening and cultivation gave rise to an interest in vegetarian cuisine and the desire to improve his own health and wellness, as well as those closest to him. His fascination with geology and minerals was infused by exploring the unique landscapes visited during cross-county family trips, his own trips abroad, and the local Madison area.  His desire to travel and be outdoors fueled daredevil hobbies such as motorcycle riding at home and downhill skiing in the Alps. Keith was a fast learner and took to his desired hobbies with natural ease.

Keith had a deep passion for humanity.  He had a strong sense of justice and believed in doing everything he could to spread healing throughout the world.  Current events weighed heavily on his mind, specifically the urgent need to liberate the Palestinian people, combat climate change, corruption, and corporate greed. Keith believed that safe food, water, and energy should be accessible to all, free from fossil fuel production and synthetics.

Keith was a caretaker. In childhood and adolescence, he looked out for his younger sister, Kate, as well as his friends and strangers alike. He cared deeply for all the family pets throughout the years, with a specific affinity for Duff. Duff and Keith were kindred spirits, healing one another every day.

Keith is survived by his parents, Alan and Connie; sister, Kate; grandparents, John and Ruth Koberle; four uncles, Jeff Koberle, James (Susan Shipley) Koberle, Paul (Amy) Allen and Dean Richard; four aunts, Nancy Koberle, Susan Pryce, Marcia Kocvara and Vicki Richard; cousins, Jason, Colleen, Gina, Megan, Kelsey, Daniel, Eric, Terry, Lillian, Noah, Alexander and Dani Jo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorman Richard and Rita (Lins) Richard; uncles, Duane Richard, John Kocvara and Mark O’Connell; cousin, Kristen; and his beloved dog, Duff, who was always there for him.

A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2025. A time of remembrance will be held at the funeral home at 12 noon on Sunday. Those who wish to share fond memories and stories of Keith are encouraged to do so.
